Coronavirus: making decisions about treatment

A recent Royal Society of Medicine webinar described work in the Intensive Care Units with Covid 19 patients. Dame Jane Dacre a very senior doctor, stressed the importance of asking the patient and family the ‘what if?’ (things don’t go well) question and whether they would want to be on a ventilator and other questions about what extent of treatment they would want.

None of us knows if or when such a decision has to be made by ourself or our family.

This is why talking about dying is so important.
