WHPCA Campaign as Part of UK BIG GIVE

WHPCA has set up a campaign as part of the UK BIG GIVE for this year’s World Hospice & Palliative Care Day.

WHPCD is a day of action to celebrate and support hospice and palliative care across the world, occurring annually, this year on October 11th, 2025. Every year, over 70 million families need palliative care worldwide. At present, only about 14% of this need is being met. Over 80% of the need is in low or middle-income countries.

The donation you make, big or small, will go a long way in closing the access abyss to palliative care services for those who need it most. Here is the link to donate to the WHPCD campaign on the BIG GIVE https://ow.ly/jbUE50VNMAI

United Nations multi-stakeholder meeting on NCDs

A UN multi-stakeholder meeting on NCDs was held in preparation for the 4th high-level meeting on NCDs during the UN General Assembly meetings in September. This meeting was held at UN Headquarters in New York on May 2nd as an opportunity for member states to hear from many non-state actors on the important issues for prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases and the promotion of mental health and well-being. Many organizations wanted to speak, and WHPCA Executive Director Dr Stephen Connor was able to present on palliative care for three minutes. Text of the intervention is at: https://ow.ly/Ajog50VNXs4

A Milestone in Palliative Care in Asia-Pacific

The first-ever Atlas of Palliative Care Development in the Asia-Pacific marks a turning point in our shared effort to relieve health-related suffering across one of the world’s most diverse regions. Covering more than 40 countries and areas, including many Pacific Islands, this publication offers the most comprehensive and systematic evaluation to date.

WHO NCD Hard Talk Webinar on Palliative Care 2025

A WHO NCD Hard Talk, organized by WHO and WHPCA, was held on 24th April 2025.

We explored ways to engage those with lived experience in palliative care reform, ensured their active participation, highlighted gaps to address their unmet needs, and helped to inform people-centred palliative care policies.

In case you missed the webinar, you can access the recording to get key insights on how to place lived experiences at the heart of palliative care reform. This information will help you to be better placed to achieve success in palliative care development in underserved populations.

You can access the recording HERE.
